Carly joined Project for Public Spaces in August of 2000, working as the assistant to the Design Director, and has expanded her role to become the first Art Director at PPS.
Carly works on a wide range of technical assistance projects. She works closely with the Director of Design and Project Managers to develop various products, including presentation graphics, site maps, diagrams, photo simulations and drawings. She is also responsible for developing and producing the graphic layout of final reports for all projects.
In her role as Art Director, Carly oversees the production of marketing collateral. She works with the Director of Marketing to design and produce materials that include informational brochures, printed Placemaking tools, and promotional items. Carly drives the direction of the graphic “look” of PPS, working with the entire staff to develop functional and compelling visuals to support all aspects of the organization. In addition, Carly designed the current PPS logo in 2002, streamlining the PPS identity.
During her time at PPS, Carly has been involved in projects related to both program and project work. In 2001 and 2003 she helped plan and organize PPS’s International Parks Conference, Great Parks/Great Cities, in New York City. She also helped coordinate PPS’s “How to Turn a Place Around” training course when it first began in 2002.
Prior to working at PPS, Carly studied architecture as an undergraduate. She interned in a variety of fields, including historic preservation, construction management, military intelligence, and event planning before happily settling at PPS. Carly is also a Notary Public.
